Near 62,000 people work at Correos, 53% men and 47% women, devoted to distributing the over 4.4 million deliveries our company manages throughout the year; from the handling, transport and urgent delivery; to offering a wide range of services from our offices and through our online services.
Correos has over 14,000 vehicles with different capacities to transport and distribute deliveries, from 24-tonne lorries to motorcycles, which transport 8.000 Tm and travel over 800,000 kilometres each day. In other words, we go around the world 20 times a day.
Our company has 2,360 multiservice offices, which are visited by over 250,000 users and customers each day, and the Internet office www.correos.es, with a monthly average of over 3.2 million visits. It has some 20,000 urban distribution units and 7,402 service points in rural areas; as well as 64 logistics centres, of which 6 are mass admissions centres, 17 automated processing centres, 36 processing centres and 5 local processing centres.
Turnover in 2010 was down 3.6% compared to the previous year due, among other things, to the impact of the economic crisis on the postal sector, the progressive growth of electronic communication technologies and the fact of now constituting a mature market. These factors have also resulted in a 4.7% drop in volume of mail processed, less than last year.
