The social and workplace integration of people with disabilities is another key element of CORREOS' long-standing commitment to social issues. It works to promote the advancement of this collective as a whole, by facilitating as normal a professional life as possible in relation to the situation of each individual.
CORREOS supports the integration of people with disabilities in the workplace, whether through direct employment within the company or by establishing contracts for goods and services with various Special Employment Foundations and Centres.
According to the 2008 report by the Business and SocietyFoundation's Observatory, CORREOS is one of Spain's most active companies in the promotion of workplace integration of people with disabilities, both in terms of the number of people hired directly and the amount of purchases made through the aforementioned centres.
This report counts 426 initiatives and projects, developed by 121 companies and savings banks acting in association with the Business and SocietyFoundation, that promote the social integration of disadvantaged people. In absolute terms, CORREOS was the second highest ranking company for purchases made from Special Employment Centres in 2007.
The Pardo Valcarce Foundation, Ocón Business Centre, Gupost, Ibermail-Juan XXIII Foundation, APAI, and the Ginesta Foundation are just some of the entities CORREOS collaborates with on a regular basis. These entities offer an extensive range of services, such as: direct marketing, database management, mailing, wrapping, handling, storage, logistics, centralised sales, collection, delivery and return service for certain inter-province routes, etc.
To reinforce this working relationship, CORREOS invited 400 Special Centre workers from throughout Spain (Madrid, San Sebastian, Barcelona, Logroño, etc.), and their monitors, to visit Expo Zaragoza and see its pavilion first hand.
It has also made donations to organisations which train and otherwise prepare disabled people for their entry into the labour market, and other bodies which seek to improve, where possible, these people's quality of life. For example, the Juan XXIII, Dales la Palabra, NIDO and PRODIS Foundations.
