US Executive Order 14324 (EO) eliminates the tariff exemption ("de minimis") on shipments with a value of USD 800 or less from 29 August 2025, requiring the application of tariffs on all goods entering its territory (and the overseas territories American Samoa, Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, Guam and the US Virgin Islands. All references to shipments addressed to the USA shall be deemed to extend to these territories) irrespective of their value and origin, subject to exceptions.
This means that:
This situation forces Correos, as well as all postal operators that handle shipments destined for the United States, to substantially modify their processes, as well as to increase controls on shipments in order to implement the new customs requirements, with a significant impact on international postal logistics and e-commerce flows.
Due to the limited time to adapt to these new requirements, and in order to protect the interests of its customers, like most international postal operators, Correos has been forced to temporarily suspend shipments of goods with a value of USD 800 or less to the United States.
As a consequence of the Executive Order issued on 30 July by the US President, as of 3 September 2025, Correos will only accept shipments to the US that contain exclusively documents of no commercial value and packages with goods worth more than USD 800.
This situation will be maintained for the time strictly necessary to adopt the necessary operational measures to meet the new obligations arising from the US Executive Order.
Correos will be liable for loss, theft, damage or failure to meet delivery deadlines depending on the characteristics of the contracted product and in accordance with applicable regulations and the conditions and amounts established. You can consult these guarantees, conditions and amounts on the website www.correos.es, at any Correos office or by calling the customer service telephone number 900 400 004.
Correos willpromptlyinform customers on the evolution and progress of the implementation of these measures in order to resolve this suspension as soon as possible.
