Thanks to our agreement with Ria Money Transfer, Correos can offer you currency exchange in record time and with the maximum security guarantees. And what’s the best thing about it?

We offer you a wide range of currencies. Correos helps to ensure your trips abroad are easier and more economical!  This service is only available in Mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands. In the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla we are not yet able to offer currency exchange. 

The minimum amount you can exchange per transaction is €200 and the maximum is €999. In the same three-month period you can request up to €6,000.

Important! Remember that the amount of currency you receive will vary depending on market supply and demand. Below is a list of available currencies:

ID documents accepted for currency exchange

Whenever you come to one of our branches to exchange currencies, it is important that you present a valid ID document. What documents are accepted by Correos for this purpose?

  • If you are a Spanish national, you should present your National Identity Document (DNI). In this case, it will not be possible to carry out the currency exchange with documents such as a driving licence or passport. 
  • If you are a citizen of another European Union member state, you will need to show your official identity card, issued by the authorities in your country of origin.
  • For nationals of any other country, you will need to present your Spanish Foreign National ID card (NIE). Very important! Cuban passports and ID documents are not accepted for currency exchange.

Delivery times

We guarantee fast, secure delivery! The times will depend on the geographic area in which you live:

  • Mainland Spain: 24 - 48 hours 
  • Balearic Islands: 24-72 hours

The delivery service is provided directly by the company Ria Money Transfer. Two delivery attempts will be made. 

The second delivery attempt will be agreed with the recipient so we will contact you to agree a new delivery date.

What happens if we are unable to deliver the money to you on the second attempt?

In this case, your money will be held at the reference branch for your address so you can pop by and collect it during our opening hours.

If the money is never delivered, Ria Money Transfer will proceed to cancel the order and, as the customer, you will assume any transport costs. To do this, you will need to authorise the company to deduct these costs from the amount you paid when you purchased the currency.

Yes! Ria Money Transfer will return your money to you, but will deduct the costs associated with the attempted deliveries. 


It is very important that you bear in mind that currency prices vary depending on the market. For this reason, the official exchange rate is just a reference price from which the buying and selling rates are obtained (these are two different kinds of transaction). 

Despite the fact that the prices vary, there is one factor that never changes: at Correos, we never charge commission for currency exchanges. The only additional costs you will have to pay are the delivery costs and only when you exchange under €500. In this case you will have to pay a €10 delivery fee.

Why is your mobile phone important?

When you order your currency, you will need to have an active mobile phone and access to the internet because you will receive an email or text message with the terms, conditions and privacy policies for the service. You must accept these terms on your mobile device at the time you request the currency exchange in order to continue with the transaction. 

Cancellation policy

Be quick! Yes! You can cancel your currency exchange order free of charge, but only in the branch of Correos where you made the order and within a period of 60 minutes.

In any case, it is very important that you bear in mind that Ria Money Transfer may charge you for any additional costs incurred as a result of the cancellation, if the currency has already been dispatched to the courier service, including transport costs.
