Correos issues a stamp with the logo of the XXII Ibero-American Summit to commemorate this event which took place in Cádiz (Spain) on 16 and 17 November 2012.
Ibero-American Summits are meetings held annually by the Heads of State and Governments of the member countries of the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI).
These meetings are held on a regular basis since 1991 resulting from the idea of institutionalizing an annual meeting of all the Ibero-American countries aiming at strengthening their links.
The first summit was held in Guadalajara (Mexico) in 1991, with a foundational character. Since then it has been held every year in the different member countries. In Spain it has taken place in 1992 and 2005. In 1992, coinciding with the V Centenary of the first voyage of Christopher Columbus to America, it addressed issues such as political coordination, economy, integration and cooperation, education and modernization, cooperation programs, social and human development and sustainable development . In 2005, two issues were addressed: migration and relationships between Ibero-America and the European Union.
Each Summit evolves around a central theme which in the Summit XXII of Cadiz of 2012 verses on "a renewed relationship in the Bicentennial of the Constitution of Cadiz."
